The crest is the official signature of The United Church of Canada, placed on legal documents, ordination and commissioning certificates, and licences to perform the sacrements. Designed by the Rev. Dr. Victor T. Mooney (Treasurer of the United Church), it was officially adopted in 1944 by the 11th General Council.
IN THE BEGINNING
The first names on a scroll created and placed in the church in 1987 to mark the 125th anniversary of the congregation were Mr Charles Alexander and Mr. Shakespeare, lay preachers, and Dr. Ephraim Evans, ministers of the Methodist Church in Victoria.
